The Paediatric First Aid qualification is suitable for individuals aged 16 and above who work with, or care for, babies and children. These roles include teachers, nursery/pre-school staff, child-minders, nannies and au pairs.

This course is divided into two units, allowing learners to cover both action for emergency situations, and the necessary treatment various other injuries or chronic conditions.

The nationally accredited RQF level 3 qualification is recognised by Ofsted, Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and enables settings to comply with the 2017 EYFS Statutory Framework amendments (‘Millie’s Law’).

Qualification details and validity

The Paediatric First Aid (England, Wales, Northern Ireland RQF level 3 / Scotland SCQG level 6) qualification is valid for three years. The course consists of 12 contact hours, including practical and theoretical activities.

Assessment and certification

Assessment is ongoing by the instructor, along with a multiple choice question paper after each day, and a three-year qualification will be issued to those who satisfy the criteria.

Age restrictions and group sizes

A maximum of 12 learners are allowed per instructor and must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
