First Aid for Mental Health – Awareness
We all know it but it’s often overlooked… our emotional health and wellbeing is just as important as our physical health and wellbeing. In the UK, some 10 percent of children and young people (aged 5-16 years) have a clinically diagnosable mental health problem. In the workplace, over half a million workers suffer from mental-health related conditions, with around 12.5 million working days being lost in 2016/17 as a result. Tragically, some 5,821 people committed suicide in 2017.
Mental health illnesses are a leading cause of health-related disabilities, and can have long-lasting adverse effects on physical health, educational achievement, social relationships and employment prospects.
This Ofqual regulated, level 1 half day course provides an overview of the most common mental health conditions and equips learners with the knowledge on how to start a supportive conversation, and how and when to signpost someone to seek appropriate professional help.
Qualification details and validity
